New: margu-NotebookInfo2 Version 2.2.9
I have finally found the error!
Now the gadget should no longer hang. Furthermore, I have given own loops to the modules, so that different refresh rates are possible. Currently, the refreshs as follows:
- 0,25s for CPU/RAM usage
- 0,5s for CPU clock
- 2s for Network
- 5s Battery
- 10s Calendar
- 60s (comes later for the hard drive indicator)
- all other modules refresh every second
I hope you like it. In a later version I will make the refresh times adjustable for the user.
As usual you can download the update on my Download Page.

Yeah i agree, the gadget is fantastic but i too have an issue with the „Initial Load, please be patient…“. Running Win 7 64.
I’m not too sure if mine is related to the internet connection but i have created a script that restarts the sidebar after hibernating (because of the issue).. even after that it still sits on the „loading“ screen.
Sometimes it just works though – trying to figure out the pattern, I’ll keep a closer look on the internet connectivity + loading issue suggestion.
Still an awesome app though!
Hi, first thanks a lot for this nice prog !
Do you know that the latest version doesn’t start if the pc is not connected to the internet?
There only comes „initial load, please be patient“. It doesn’t change even when the pc is connected later.
So i have to close and restart the programm, but then all settings are lost. 🙁
Noone » This option will be added in next version 🙂 :ok:
@Hotfoot
Thank you for your comment. I’ve found this bug. It will be fixed in the next release 🙂
I have had margu-Netbookinfo2 installed on my netbook and desk pc for over a year and love this gadget. Both PCs are running Win7 and v2.2.9 of your gadget. But since the last update I have noticed that the calendar is tracking the 2nd time zone in my clock (Japan). As they are 9 hours ahead of the UK, the calendar each evening is highlighting the day ahead. Is there a way I can force the calendar to track my PC’s clock, or Clock1 in my setup? Many thanks.
I find error in system up time. It always starts with 1:00:00 ie it adds up 1 hour to actual time. Also, it crashes sometime on windows 7 64 bit
I would like to see the seconds removed (or as an option) from computer uptime. (it’s really distracting)

I can confirm the alarm problem. Once it goes off, it just keeps going. The only thing you can do to stop it is to close the gadget and restart it. Unfortunately that means your settings are gone too.
About the use of resources, I can’t say that I notice any problems. With 3 gadgets running (including this one) sidebar uses 30MB of RAM, without this gadget 22MB.
So that’s not really a problem on a 3GB system. I’ll just continue using it, but obviously without the alarm.
I installed this gadget on July 18th together with the Xirrus Wi-Fi Monitor Gadget. I didn’t use the WiFi gadget much.
My laptop (an Intel i7) immediately became incredibly sluggish – I guessed (though have not spent the time to prove) that it was your gadget, as it was always using CPU to check CPU status.
I put up with the sluggishness for 2 days, because I found your gadget quite useful. However, the sluggishness became unbearable and I had to uninstall both gadgets on July 20th, because Windows 7 told me that I was running out of RAM and that gadgets had to be closed down. System is fine now that the two gadgets are removed.
Pity. I guess that your gadget is a resource hog.
Thought I should give you some feedback. I just installed this gadget (2011-07-18) on my HP ENVY 14 Intel i7, Windows 7 (64-bit). The gadget functions all seem to work very well, apart from the clock alarm, which, once it goes off, it won’t stop beeping – even when you reset/clear it. Trying to stop the beeping, I fiddled with this gadget’s controls and then all the gadgets crashed, so I restarted them and the alarm beep had stopped.
Apart from this instability issue, this is otherwise a very nice piece of work though. Thankyou. I might just keep using this gadget (I am experimenting, trying several out at the moment.)
